ANAMIKA BANDOPADHYAY

Throughout her career Anamika has offered a wide range of courses in cinema that includes Advanced Film Direction, Documentary Production, Advanced Sound Production and Design, Film History, Film Theories, Gender Studies and Cultural Studies courses.

She has a master’s degree in English Literature, Film Studies and in Filmmaking. After completing master’s in film studies from Jadavpur University, she started teaching cinema and working in the Television Industry. She left India to attend film school in America. She obtained an MFA in Film Making from the University of Utah. She has taught at two Universities (University of Utah, Boise State University) in the US and has worked with various production houses.

Anamika has extensively written on Cinema and presented at the International seminars. She met Michelangelo Antonioni at the very early age that changed her life Her filmography lists five documentaries and a number of short films, including films like Red, Take Care, Memoirs, 1700 Kelvin and The Third Breast. She is currently working on her debut feature. She contributes in her films as a writer, director, editor and as a sound designer.

She is also a published author and a painter. She regularly contributes into National and International journals as a writer. She has authored five books including two on cinema (Cinema of Argentina, Cinema of Spain).

Anamika begins her day with Tai-Chi. Her association with aboriginal communities has changed her worldview towards life and cinema.
