Michael comes in with more than 35 years of rich academic expertise on both the academic and pedagogical basis, Currently also editing a feature-length documentary on Indian Jazz musicians tentatively titled “Blue N Boogie” on the themes of identity, belonging, and home He holds a degree in Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Diploma in Cinema (Film Direction) from FTI Pune. He has directed more than 51 films in fiction, nonfiction, Documentary and played more than 24 theatre role-plays infamous screenplay Michael joins us from Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design, and Technology, Yelahanka, Bangalore, where he was Dean, of the Undergraduate Technical Program. He was instrumental in leading the strategy of the newly formed Undergraduate Technical Program he was responsible for both the operational and pedagogical basis of the seven courses that come under this program. This entails engaging with multiple facets such as – admissions, curriculum development, and planning, faculty allocation, ensuring quality standards in terms of delivery and operational aspects of the program, examinations, assessments, and reporting to the Board of Examiners/ Graduating Standards Committee and the Academic Council. More importantly, the experience of the last 8 years has made me explore and develop a different educational paradigm that is rooted in the “Work-Based Learning” model. This has made him confront the existing ways of teaching and develop a possible alternative way of looking at art and design education.
