Ms. Medini Kelamane, Actor and Director
Medini Kelamane is an actress- graduate from National School of Drama, New Delhi, specialised in acting (2011-2014). She is basically from middle part of Karnataka, Heggodu. Grown up in the environment of art and culture, she has been involved in theatre activities since her childhood.
During and after the graduation from National School Drama, she has acted in different plays with eminent directors and theatre practitioners like Anuradha Kapoor, Abhilash Pillai, OvlyakuliKodzakuli etc. Her stay in Delhi and Mumbai for 4 years got her opportunities to work in experimental theatre projects with Vivan Sundaram- sculptor, in short films, and in advertisements.
She has done her masters in Clinical Psychology, so is working in psychodrama- a psychotherapy where theatre techniques are used therapeutically to deal with individuals with mental instability- and awarded fellowship from National school of Drama for the same in the year 2017-18.
She has directed a Kannada short film along with her brother- ‘Daali’- which has got different awards including prestigious Toto Awards for Short Films in 2017.
She has acted in three feature films -‘Naanu Ladies’ directed by Shailaja Padindala playing the lead, in ‘Pedro’ by Natesh Hegde and in a Hindi feature directed by Anurag Kashyap- ‘Dobaara’. Currently she is acting in a Kannada feature – ‘Pepe’.
Coming to teaching experience, she has been conducting acting workshops in different parts of India like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore etc. She is well versed in realistic acting techniques which mainly concentrate on self and characterisation. As she has worked in both rural and urban set ups with both younger and elder individuals, can adapt her facilitating style to suit the needs of diverse group of individuals.
