PG Diploma & Diploma Programs
Names like Francis Ford Coppola or Satyajit Ray evoke images of pure magic brought to the screen by these talented directors. Directors transform ideas into screen-reality. A director is at once familiar with all the elements of a production while making sure every creative department works harmoniously toward a common purpose. The director coordinates with a collaborative team of producers, actors, cinematographers, editors, production designers, sound designers, and many other crew members to realize his or her creative vision, from the very beginning to the end.
LVPA’s Film Direction Course emphasizes both theory and hands-on experience. Students gain invaluable experience directing their own films and serving as crew members on other students’ projects. The craft of direction encompasses cinema language, storytelling, staging and blocking for camera and actors, and collaborating with cast and crew on film projects. Direction students are encouraged to cultivate and articulate both voice and vision in their creative work.
The overall look and mood of a film’s visual narrative is supported by the cinematographer. Each visual element that appears on screen, can serve and enhance the story—so it is the cinematographer’s responsibility to ensure that every visual element is cohesive and supports the narrative. In this program, students learn the theoretical and practical skills necessary for visual storytelling in films, television shows, or web series. Students work on multiple projects. LVPA is committed to giving aspiring cinematographers the professional skills they need in order to work in the industry.
The principles and conventions of editing drive how narrative films are shot; editing is not just about learning software but also about understanding narrative structure and performance. It is critical for editors to master the language of cinema so that they can thoughtfully and intentionally select, arrange, trim and pace camera footage to transform it into powerful and coherent stories. In addition to editing, students learn colour grading, and compositing. They work with final year students of Direction and Cinematography on diploma films.
Sound designers are responsible for interpreting a director’s ideas, visions and thoughts and creating a soundtrack which complements the onscreen visual storytelling as it unfolds. This is an intricate process that has to be done with skillful consideration and precision. Advances in sound technology have allowed sound to play an equally important role as the visuals in cinematic storytelling. Students in this program are trained in the concept and principles of sound recording and design, as well as practical aspects of recording and mixing, using industry-standard tools for 5.1 and Atmos mixing. Students work with final year students of Direction and Cinematography on diploma films.
The one-year Screen Acting diploma at LVPA focuses on acting for the screen in front of the camera. In addition to coursework in acting techniques, students learn film language and film history to enhance their understanding of acting for the screen. Students work on actual film projects with student directors and crews.
LVPA’s one-year Digital Filmmaking Program is focused on hands-on learning. Intense practical workshops cover the fundamentals of visual storytelling: cinematography, directing, screenwriting, producing, and editing. Students write, shoot, direct, and edit their own short digital exercises including a final project. They are also required to crew on other student projects.

The name Prasad occupies a special position in the film industry and Alumni and Students of the L. V. Prasad Film & TV Academy are sought after by established film makers from across the country. Here is what some of them have to say about the Academy.

Don’t lose your innocence, your naiveté and always watch and make films with passion. I envy you for this opportunity you have, to learn and earn a certificate in 2 years, while it took me 20 long years to achieve it on my own.

Like professionals in the field of medicine, engineering and information technology, cinematographers too need formal education and training in a University / Academic Institution for a strong foundation and to scale new heights in their chosen field. L V Prasad College of Media Studies is one such Center of Excellence that benefits young aspirants.

What the industry needs more than talent is the confidence… be truthful to yourself

You are all graduating from an Academy that comes under the umbrella of the largest post production services providers in Asia… Make the two years count.

I am impressed that L V Prasad College of Media Studies has successfully completed 7 years. I am sure this batch of filmmakers will make films with sensitivity which is the need of the hour in Indian Cinema.

I sometimes wish I could have also gone to a film school like all you fortunate ones.

Since I never had the opportunity to educate myself in a formal manner in film making, I envy you! So please make sure that you keep the flag flying high with your films.

Modern Indian Cinema is undoubtedly going to dominate the world of entertainment in the coming years. This means preparing the new generation with out-of-the-box ideas and synthesizing it with new technological inputs. The Prasad Academy students seem very comfortable on both these fronts and I wish them all the best.

Prasad Academy with its eminent faculty teaches cinema holistically that helps the students become visionaries

The Prasad Group has always been innovative and leading when it comes to development of the film industry. When I had an opportunity to interact with the students of Prasad Academy, their enthusiasm and knowledge was extraordinary high. I am sure that by producing such intelligent and informed students every year, our film industry will go a long way. I once again appreciate the way the Prasad Academy works and educates the future of Cinema

It is commendable that the Prasad Group has taken the initiative to develop an Academy to serve the purposes of the Indian film industry. Their students will definitely usher in a meaningful cinema for the new generation.

I know how good this institute is because I have never heard students cheer for their teachers so much! I know they are going to create a lot of filmmakers here.

It is so wonderful to see so much enthusiasm, so much spirit and all I can say is keep this spirit up!
